An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a given website. Every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have a single webpage with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log typically shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s Operating System, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information which an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the overall performance of a website, independent of the web stats that your server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your hosting
account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domains
and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you no longer need one, you could stop it with just a click from the very same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your websites within a semi-dedicated server
account with us, you'll have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with only a couple of clicks within your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You shall find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access when you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is a single click on the On button you'll see there. The feature can be triggered separately for any website no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find the complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you can then see it manually or use some software on your PC. The log generation can be disabled by simply changing the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
